*** ABOUT THE STONES ***

CHRYSOCOLLA:  is first and foremost a Stone of Communication. Its very essence is devoted to expression, empowerment and teaching. The serenity of its turquoise-blue color discharges negative energies, calms, and allows truth and inner wisdom to surface and be heard. A peaceful stone, it emphasizes the power our words and actions have on those around us, and encourages compassion and strengthening of character.  Chrysocolla is a stone of empowerment of the feminine energies, teaching that genuine power is best expressed through gentleness. It is a stone of the Goddess, and those who resonate with it will likely feel her ancient and enduring energies rising within themselves.  It is the stone of forgiveness, peace, and the strengthening of emotional bonds. It encourages compassion, and helps us recover our natural spontaneity.  Chrysocolla is a teaching stone, encouraging us to reveal our highest knowledge so that others may benefit from our experiences. This may come in the form of speaking lovingly to a friend and offering insights, a teacher to a student, or by simply modeling the power of words, chosen wisely with knowledge of their impact in the world. It is also a valuable tool for those who speak for a living.  One strange property of Chrysocolla known since antiquity, is its property of encouraging people to stay at home. It diminishes the anxiety and depression that often accompanies seclusion. People with wandering temperaments, who never stay in one place, would benefit from it.

SODALITE:  brings order and calmness to the mind. It encourages rational thought, objectivity, truth and intuition, along with verbalization of feelings. Sodalite brings emotional balance and calms panic attacks. It enhances self-esteem, self-acceptance and self-trust.
***WHAT IS A MALA***

Mala beads date back thousands of years. Traditionally Mala Beads are made up of 108 beads and have been used in prayer and meditation, but don't be intimidated by that. Anyone can wear Mala Beads whether you meditate or not. Many people are drawn to them for the believed healing properties of the gemstones used. Others are drawn to them because they are just beautiful pieces of jewelry.

You can wear them around your wrist, your neck, hang them at your altar, or meditate on them.

***WHY 108***

There are many different explanations for why 108 is a sacred number. Some say the number 108 represents one thing, nothing, and everything all at the same time. 1=one, 0= none, 8= infinity or all. Another is that It has been said that there are 108 energy lines connecting the heart, with one of them being directly linked to self actualization. Also 108 is a sacred number.

***HOW TO USE YOUR MALA***

If you choose to meditate on your mala, you will most likely use a mantra. A mantra is a word, sound, or phrase repeated to aid in your concentration. It can be as simple as the word "happiness" something you are thankful for, or a sanskrit phrase such as "Om Namah Shivaya" which means “I bow to that which I am becoming”. In the context of this chant, Shiva represents the inner reality…the truest nature of ourselves.

To count your mantras, hold your mala in your hand and turn each bead with your thumb and middle finger. (The index finger is believed to represent 'ego' and is not recommended to turn the beads.)

Going all the way around your mala, you will eventually reach the guru bead — the bead that dangles from the mala. This signals a time for reflection. You can reflect on your meditation practice, give thanks to your mantra, honor your guru — or show yourself a moment of gratitude for slowing down to meditate. Never continue over the guru bead. Instead, turn around and continue in the opposite direction.

Our mala beads have 108, as that's a very traditional and sacred number. They are also hand-knotted gemstone to help aid in the practice of japa meditation.

Meditation is a practice, as is self love.

Don't meditate? No worries. Our necklaces are made with love and intention with beautiful stones that make great fashion accessories as well. :) Wear with your favorite outfit for a night out on the town :)
