*** ABOUT THE STONES ***
Lepidolite is variety of mica. It is stone of calm, trust, and acceptance. It has a strong relaxing, balancing and calming effect. It brings hope in dark times by lending a sense of balance and calm. Lepidolite is a stone of transformation in that it helps one get through transitions with trust that everything will ultimately turn out for the best. It engenders and enhances self-love, patience, and optimism. Lepidolite is also a protective stone that brings success in business or career. It can also bring a growing energy to gardening and agriculture. Emotionally, lepidolite is one of the best healers I know. It decreases stress, anxiety, depression, manic-depression, despondency, PTSD, anger, and other traumas, panic attacks, and addictions. It brings gentleness and balanced energy to all these and other emotional issues.
Blue lace agate is one of the rarest and most popular of the agates. Blue lace agate is a gentle, calming stone that engenders tranquility and grace. Blue lace agate brings with this calm and tranquility a lessening of anger, even deep anger issues, and a calming of nervousness. It is even considered a happiness stone from these harmonious energies it carries, as well as one of hope..
Agate enhances creativity and strengthens the intellect, making it a beneficial stone for both students and artists. It is also known as a good luck stone. As a stone of harmony, one of the things agate does is balance yin/yang energy. Agate increases energy. However, because it is a grounding stone, it does not increase energy at all times, but rather enables bursts of energy as needed. In this way, agate is a conservation stone, and enhances longevity.
***WHAT IS A MALA***
Mala beads date back thousands of years. Traditionally Mala Beads are made up of 108 beads and have been used in prayer and meditation, but don't be intimidated by that. Anyone can wear Mala Beads whether you meditate or not. Many people are drawn to them for the believed healing properties of the gemstones used. Others are drawn to them because they are just beautiful pieces of jewelry.
You can wear them around your wrist, your neck, hang them at your altar, or meditate on them.
There are many different explanations for why 108 is a sacred number. Some say the number 108 represents one thing, nothing, and everything all at the same time. 1=one, 0= none, 8= infinity or all. Another is that It has been said that there are 108 energy lines connecting the heart, with one of them being directly linked to self actualization. Also 108 is a sacred number.
***HOW TO USE YOUR MALA***
If you choose to meditate on your mala, you will most likely use a mantra. A mantra is a word, sound, or phrase repeated to aid in your concentration. It can be as simple as the word "happiness" something you are thankful for, or a sanskrit phrase such as "Om Namah Shivaya" which means “I bow to that which I am becoming”. In the context of this chant, Shiva represents the inner reality…the truest nature of ourselves.
To count your mantras, hold your mala in your hand and turn each bead with your thumb and middle finger. (The index finger is believed to represent 'ego' and is not recommended to turn the beads.)
Going all the way around your mala, you will eventually reach the guru bead — the bead that dangles from the mala. This signals a time for reflection. You can reflect on your meditation practice, give thanks to your mantra, honor your guru — or show yourself a moment of gratitude for slowing down to meditate. Never continue over the guru bead. Instead, turn around and continue in the opposite direction.
Our mala beads have 108, as that's a very traditional and sacred number. They are also hand-knotted gemstone to help aid in the practice of japa meditation.
Meditation is a practice, as is self love.
